tension

The cushion cover has been designed at a tension of 18 sts and 25 rows to 10cm(4in) square measured over st st pattern using 4.5mm (US size 7) needles. Check your tension – if less sts to 10cm use smaller needles, if more sts use bigger needles.

IT IS ESSENTIAL TO WORK TO THE STATED TENSION TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS.

pattern notes

The lace heart cushion cover is made in two layers, a red outer layer with a lace heart and a cream inner layer knitted in stocking stitch. Once the layers are knitted up, they are sewn together at specific rows that are marked as you knit.

The lace heart section of knitted fabric will become distorted while knitting. To bring back shape, cover finished knitting with a tea towel and use a steam iron to lightly press and block the area.

To mark where to sew layers together, it is helpful to baste a temporary straight line using scrap yarn where indicated on the pattern. Sew from the purl side using scrap yarn.

It is helpful to pin the layers together when sewing side seams of cushion.

Moss stitch edges on back of cushion should overlap evenly.
