I love making heart cookies for the kids, my husband being the biggest and putting secret love notes in their lunch boxes. Valentines Day make’s me happy. This year to celebrate all things lovey-dovey, I made this easy lace heart cushion which takes pride of place in my ‘crafting’ chair in my studio. But rest assured I will be snuggling up with my cushion and my hubby this valentines, pure bliss. Why not make your own Lace Heart Cushion with this free knitting pattern.

Ever wanted to Crochet Your Own Rag Rug? Want to use up scarp pieces of fabric? Well now you can with this Free Pattern and Tutorial.

Crochet Your Own Rag Rug – Free Pattern

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

CROCHET HOOK – 8mm (US size 11) or 10mm (US size 15)

COTTON FABRIC – Copius amounts of Cotton Fabric in contrasting colours. And when I say copius amounts of fabric… I’m talking a lot! Rag Rugs EAT fabric.

In this pattern I used scraps of heavy cotton curtain fabric kindly donated to me from a local haberdashery store (my moto: if you don’t ask, you don’t get!) Given the different types and weights of cotton fabric available, (t-shirt weight; light craft weight; ‘bed sheet’ weight (if there is such a weight); curtain weight) the type of cotton you use will impact on the tension of the rug. I strongly suggest that whatever weight of cotton you choose to use, be sure to use the same weight through-out.
